Pilgrims planning a visit to the Maa Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati will need to book their Special Darshan tickets exclusively online from June 15, the temple authorities have announced. The decision to discontinue all offline counter bookings marks a significant shift in how one of India’s most visited Shakti Peethas manages the flow of devotees at its shrine.
Online Portal Opens at 6 PM on June 15
The upgraded booking portal for Special Darshan at the Kamakhya Temple will go live for public access at 6 PM on June 15. From that date onward, pilgrims will no longer be able to purchase Special Darshan tickets at the temple’s physical counters. All bookings must be completed in advance through the official website.
Devotees are strongly advised to plan ahead and secure their tickets online before travelling to the temple, particularly during peak pilgrimage periods.
Why the Change?
The decision comes in response to the growing number of devotees visiting the Kamakhya Devalaya each year. By moving to an exclusively online system, the temple administration aims to ease crowd management, significantly reduce long queues, and improve the overall pilgrimage experience at the shrine atop Nilachal Hill in Guwahati.
The move is consistent with a broader trend of major religious destinations across India digitising their ticketing and visitor management systems to handle increasing footfall more efficiently.
